Summary

Best practice in precinct planning seeks to improve regulatory processes and approvals which enhance development in the Northern Territory and support a sustainable, liveable, prosperous and resilient path of progression.  This report provides an overview of the De-Risking the NT Through Sustainable Development Precincts project, which  seeks to answer the core question: how can improved prioritisation and planning practice support new sustainable development precincts in the Northern Territory?

This project builds on the initial project funded by the CRCNA in 2018 De-risking, brokering and prioritising agricultural development in the Northern Territory

This project seeks to answer the core research question : how can improved prioritisation and planning practice support new Sustainable Development Precincts in the Northern Territory? In doing so, it will seek to improve the planning and assessment practice for Sustainable Development Precincts by using a case study approach to progress research which can support improved practice in planning new priority agricultural development areas and improved development assessment within those areas. This work leverages previous research undertaken by the CRCNA as part of its 2020 work De-risking, brokering and prioritising agricultural development in the Northern Territory.
